Neumann Scholar Awarded at HFRCS!

8th Grader Receives Prestigious Neumann Scholarship

December 6, 2024 — Local News

An exceptional 8th-grade student has made headlines after being awarded the prestigious Neumann Scholarship for academic excellence and outstanding community involvement. This scholarship, named after renowned philanthropist and educator Dr. John Neumann, recognizes students who demonstrate not only superior academic achievement but also a commitment to serving their community and excelling in extracurricular activities.

The recipient, 13-year-old Olivia Zettlemoyer, has been described as an outstanding student at Holy Family Regional Catholic School. Olivia has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her middle school years and has consistently scored in the highest percentile during annual Terra Nova testing. She is one of 52 students in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia who received this award.

The Neumann Scholarship is highly competitive, with students required to submit detailed applications, including essays on their academic achievements and personal goals. This marks the second year in a row a HFRCS student has been named a Neumann Scholar.

As part of the scholarship, Olivia will receive financial support for her high school education, as well as access to a network of mentors who will guide her throughout her academic journey. She plans to attend Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in the fall and has expressed a strong desire to contribute to sustainability efforts in the future.

With the Neumann Scholarship in hand, Olivia Zettlemoyer is poised to continue her journey toward making a positive impact on the world. For now, though, she remains focused on finishing her 8th-grade year strong, excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

Holy Family Regional Catholic School and the community are incredibly proud of Olivia's achievement and look forward to seeing all the great things she will accomplish in the future.
